The UMR short-term and long-term disability management programs are designed to manage employer risks. We offer a full array of administrative features and innovative options, which can be tailored to meet the unique business needs of our customers.
Our disability staff consists of experienced customer service representatives (CSRs) and registered nurses (RNs). This team of experts works together in determining disability and the duration of the disability in addition to managing cases to verify total disability.
Early intervention is crucial for the program’s success. It is an excellent way to:

  • Shorten the disability duration
  • Reduce disability claim costs
  • Improve employee health and productivity
Several service options are available for short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD), including:
  • Check cut option
  • Advice-to-pay option
  • Salary continuance option
We also offer employer and employee Web claim inquiry, numerous standard disability reports and additional services such as disability clinical management/consultation by an RN, subrogation, medical investigations, vocational rehabilitation, Social Security disability income application assistance and surveillance investigations.
An integrated FMLA   and disability product is also available through UMR, streamlining the process for both the employee and employer.
